Climate change: the talks, the costs, and the consequences

The UN climate change conference in Katowice, Poland starts Monday. Delegates from around the world are meeting to hammer out rules for implementing the Paris Agreement, which seeks to limit global temperature rise by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This meeting comes on the heels of a number of major reports that show climate change is already happening and spell out the dire consequences of inaction. This program features a segment on the recent Fourth National Climate Assessment, which lays out the financial, environmental, and human costs of climate change in the United States. Lab co-director Robert Kopp, director of Director of the Rutgers University's Institute of Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences, discusses the findings, and how to avoid the worst impacts.
