Amir Jina, a professor at University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy and member of the Lab, spoke with Della Kilroy on RTE Radio One, Ireland's public radio station, about the Lab's recent research on climate change and heat-induced mortality in India. Amir tells listeners, "When we look at what happens in India by 2100 thinking of an emissions scenario where the world continues on a current rate of emission of CO2, India stands to lose about 1.5 million lives a year. If you think about the death rate from that, it's roughly similar to what India is currently experiencing from all infectious diseases. Climate change becomes a really big public health priority for them by the end of the century."
